Radon Mitigation & Abatement
If your home tested above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is the fix. We design and install active soil depressurization (ASD) systems that pull radon out from under your foundation before it can enter your living space.
How it works
Active Soil Depressurization (ASD)
ASD is the gold-standard radon mitigation method recognized by Health Canada and the C-NRPP. The principle is simple: instead of letting radon push up into your basement, we use a continuously running fan to pull air from under your slab and vent it safely outside, above the roofline.
A small-diameter PVC pipe is installed through your slab (or through the rim joist of a crawl space), connected to a quiet inline fan, and routed to discharge above the eaves of your home. Sealed sumps, slab cracks, and floor-wall joints complete the system.
Once installed, the system runs 24/7. Most homes go from elevated readings down to under 100 Bq/m³ within days.

Our process
From quote to clean air
- 01
Free site assessment
We visit your home, inspect the foundation type, sump, and mechanical room, and identify the best system layout.
- 02
Custom system design
We engineer the right pipe routing, fan size, and discharge location for your specific home — no cookie-cutter installs.
- 03
One-day install
Most homes are installed in a single day. We core through the slab, install the suction point, run the pipe, mount the fan, and seal entry routes.
- 04
Post-mitigation verification
We deploy a follow-up radon test to confirm your home is well below the action level — and provide a written verification report.
Every foundation type
We mitigate every kind of Windsor-Essex home
From century brick homes in Walkerville to new builds in LaSalle and farmhouses in Leamington, we've seen them all.
Full basement
Standard sub-slab depressurization with a single suction point through the basement floor.
Crawl space
Sealed membrane (sub-membrane depressurization) over the dirt floor with a vent stack to exterior.
Slab on grade
Suction point through the slab in a discreet location like a closet or utility room.
Walkout basement
Multi-point system to handle elevation changes and split-level airflow.
Mixed foundation
Hybrid system combining sub-slab and sub-membrane techniques where the home has both.
New construction
Rough-in radon stacks during the build for easy activation if post-occupancy tests come back high.
Common questions
- How much does radon mitigation cost in Windsor-Essex?
- Most residential systems fall in the $2,500 – $4,000 range, depending on foundation type, accessibility, and routing. Complex layouts (mixed foundations, finished basements with limited access) can run higher. Every quote we provide is fixed-price — no surprises.
- How long does the install take?
- Most homes are completed in a single day. Cleanup is included.
- Will the fan be loud or visible?
- Modern radon fans run very quietly — typically less than a refrigerator. The fan mounts outside or in an unfinished mechanical area, and the discharge pipe is routed up the side of the home above the roofline, similar to a plumbing vent.
- Will it raise my heating bill?
- The energy draw of the fan is small (about 40–90 W). Some warm air is exhausted, but well-installed systems have a minimal impact on heating costs.
- Do you guarantee the result?
- Yes. Our systems are designed to bring radon below 100 Bq/m³, and we verify with a post-mitigation test. If we don't hit that target, we adjust the system at no additional cost.
- Do I need to test again later?
- Health Canada recommends re-testing every 5 years, and after any major renovation. The mitigation system itself should be checked annually using the system's manometer.
